Independence day of India is celebrated on the 15th August is a national holiday in India. It is celebrated to commemorate its independence from British rule in 1947. On Independence Day the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort at Delhi, the capital of India and delivers as speech from its ramparts. He salutes the National Flag. The National Anthem sung. The PM also pays his tribute to leaders of the freedom struggle. Flag hoisting ceremony and cultural programs take place in all the states capitals. Flag hoisting ceremonies are also conducted by the local administration schools, collage and all over the country. In schools and collages, different competitions are held and prizes are also distributed to the children. The feeling of self-reliance and freedom fills the heart of the citizens with supreme happiness and joy. It is all due to the tireless efforts and numerous sacrifices of several great people who sacrificed their lives without any fear.
